About The Learning Club

Small-group preparation with confidence at the heart.

The Learning Club runs small, high-impact holiday and term-time workshops in Notting Hill, designed to prepare students for the 4+, 7+ and 8+ entry milestones.

We combine rigorous preparation with a stimulating, supportive environment where children can build their confidence, strengthen their academic foundations and truly thrive.

Our purpose

Rigorous preparation, delivered in a warm and encouraging way.

Our tailored workshops cover every element of the independent school assessment process. Children are supported through carefully planned learning that develops academic skill, exam confidence and emotional resilience.

By learning collaboratively in small groups, students develop the critical tools, collaborative skills and mindset needed to excel on the day.

What we do

Tailored workshops for each assessment milestone

Each programme is designed to reflect the needs of the child’s stage, from early school readiness through to advanced exam preparation.

4+

For 4+ Entry

We focus on school readiness, socialisation, listening skills and interactive tasks designed to match the latest 4+ assessments.

7+

For 7+ Entry

We cover all tested subjects, including English, maths, verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and listening.

8+

For 8+ Entry

We provide advanced preparation for children working towards competitive assessments or looking to stay academically sharp after a successful 7+ place.

Our programmes

Continuously updated for London’s leading day schools

Our programmes are continuously updated to mirror the latest assessment formats used by London’s most prestigious day schools.

Small-group learning

Students receive individual attention while also developing collaborative skills through guided group tasks and discussion.

Strong academic foundations

Children build depth across English, maths and reasoning, with carefully structured tasks that develop genuine understanding.

Assessment confidence

Pupils practise the skills, formats and expectations they are likely to meet during the independent school assessment process.

Wellbeing and resilience

We believe children perform best when they feel supported, encouraged and confident in their own ability.

Founder-led expertise

Created by Rebecca Hicks

Rebecca Hicks has over a decade of experience in primary education and school leadership. Before founding The Learning Club, she was Head of English at Wetherby School in Notting Hill, a role that gave her a first-hand understanding of what London’s leading day schools look for in young applicants.

Rebecca has a proven track record of helping students secure places at London’s top independent schools. Her focus has always been on combining competitive results with genuine care for each child’s wellbeing.

She established The Learning Club to ensure that students are consistently exposed to high-quality material that accurately emulates the true expectations of the assessments. By combining precise exam insight with a reassuring alternative to high-pressure tutoring, she has created an environment where students receive genuine individual attention, build authentic confidence and enjoy the process of learning.
